Being alone, in any kind of capacity, used to make Lance uncomfortable – as one of the younger children in a large family, and a twin at that, he was always surrounded by people. Taking care of others slowly became second nature to him, and he never truly found himself alone when he was at home.
(in conclusion, all of these characters would have major mental issues and I'm projecting my own loneliness onto my boy Lance)

Lance didn’t have a lot on him when they got launched into space and through a wormhole – same as everyone else honestly. He’d had the clothes on his back and whatever had been in his pocket at the time.
He also had his phone; battered from being a teenage boy that talked dramatically with his hands, but still in one piece. It was still nice to have his photos of home when he got homesick; it was nice to have dumb videos of cats and vines.
It was nice to have his Spotify playlists downloaded.

Summary
