Summary
An AU where somehow Dan is not dead... a year after the battle at the Coliseum. It's Christmas, and one twin is sitting alone in a run-down dive of a bar, drinking gin. Michael contemplates his life and what he has lost. All around him, people are happy. On the TV, Christmas songs play, all of them jovial.
Lucifer is at Lux holding a Christmas Party for his chosen family and friends, surrounded by those he loves.
Michael hears a sad song begin to play, "Lonely This Christmas," by Mud. And the lyrics hit home and Michael feels so lost and alone.

Summary
Michael feels he has missed out on the life he wanted, the life that Lucifer created for himself on Earth. Michael snaps when God tells him he is a mistake, fleeing to Earth determined to taste freedom for the first time. While Lucifer is in Hell dealing with his demons, Michael sees it as the perfect opportunity.
But it all goes spectacularly wrong.

Summary
After spending time with Azrael over a few months, Ella invites her on vacation. After the celestial siblings' Mother, the Goddess Asherah, arranges for additional psychopomps to take over in her absence, Azrael joins her three brothers and their families on a trip to the most remote continent, taking advantage of the opportunity to properly spend time with Amenadiel, Lucifer, and Michael for the first time in the thousands of years, as she's worked nonstop on their Father's direction since humanity developed souls.
Over vacation, it comes to light that God may still be interfering in their lives, and the siblings have to determine how to address this threat as Azrael tries to figure out where she belongs between Heaven and Earth.

Two months have passed since Ella started to consider reconnecting with Azrael to establish a connection to Heaven for possible contemporary information gathering as a protection for her family. Finally, when Michael is out of the house for a few hours one day, she decides to pray to Azrael, surprised when she shows up and even more surprised when Michael comes home early to find his sister in their living room. It turns out that Azrael and Michael don't have the rosiest history, and Ella suddenly has to smooth out something she didn't even know was a problem so she can obtain her goal of hopefully having advance knowledge if God decides to mess with the lives of his Earthbound sons again.

They kissed. Of course they kissed; that's how the story goes - lovers reunited after so long. They kiss.
Lucifer gathered her close and tried to let the distance between them fade away. Her mortal lifetime, the thousands upon thousands of his years in servitude in Hell, the promise, the abandonment - he kissed her, and tried to push it all aside.
They were together now, happy and in love. That was all that mattered. The sacrifice and suffering had been worth it.
The alternative was unthinkable.
