Since this verse is being written in an emotion-driven voice that isn’t completely straightforward on a timeline, it allows for various orders to read. Knowing each story part influences how you perceive the other parts of this verse, and vice versa, so it’s also a series to come back to after you already read it, to detect new details each time.

Though there is a chronological order to the Levi/Eren part of this verse (Nuthatch and Swallow, which happen simultaneously, followed by first Sparrow (Revised) and then Magpie), the two prequels are very one-character-based and motivation-focussed.

Hence I’d recommend reading the verse in the order I wrote it and that will feel most “rewarding”. Which would be: Nuthatch, Sparrow (Revised), and then continue to Swallow before reading Magpie. Like this, you’ll get a gentle start into the verse with background info that will deepen with every chapter. It also should give you the strongest connection with the characters for the most effective reading experience.

The fifth and sixth parts—Upon This Thermal I Soar and The Bruise—are original character and meta exploration fics that I recommend you read when you're familiar with Magpie since they deal with characters no of the other parts fully establish.

Part seven, Liars Like You and Me, is a standalone story that you can read whether you are familiar with the other parts, or not.
