Comment on From Shadow to Dawn

  1. Great chapter! It’s really heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. 😢😢💔💔💔
    Loving this so far. I can’t wait to see where you go with it.

    I have a few questions:
    1) how old was Aemond by the end of the chapter? I thought maybe 4, since you mentioned the first year of Viserys’ reign?

    2) how old is Rhaenyra by the end of the chapter?

    3) does Aemond already have his own household (servants, noble attendants/companions, sworn shields)? Or does he not get that until he is older?

    4) is the expectation of the lords/ladies of the realm that Aemond (as the only royal male omega) would be given in marriage outside of the family? Or does everyone expect the Targaryens to keep Aemond in the family?

    5) should we assume that all other canon events for this time period (end of jaehaerys’ reign, beginning of Viserys’ reign) are the same except for Aemond being around? So vhagar still disappeared after baelon died; Laena and laenor are the same ages; etc.

    6) am I understanding correctly that the Great succession council did not happen? So instead of the lords of the realm deciding to make Viserys heir, jaehaerys chose to disinherit Rhaenys himself?

    1. Thank you for your kind words. I will be happy to answer your questions. So:

      •yes, you are right at the end of the chapter Aemond is indeed 4 years old;

      •since Rhaenyra is 4 years older than her brother, she is 8 now;

      •like every member of the Royal Family, of course Aemond has his own servants and guards. The role of a quiet child excluded the possibility of having a large number of companions. Until Aemma became queen, she had more free time that she spent with her children, so Aemond did not have a shortage of attention;

      •of course, every lord of the kingdom will be happy to accept the royal omega into the family, but no one would be surprised or too offended if he married someone from the family;

      •yes, so far most of the events will correspond to the canon with the amendment of Aemond's existence;

      •as in the canon, the Great Council was, but I decided not to pay much attention to it. Although Jaehaerys was a great king in his time, I doubt he would have spoken out against the majority of the lords who wanted Viserys on the throne.

      I hope my answers have clarified everything you were wondering about. It warms my heart that you have questions, because it means you are really interested in this. Feel free to ask more😉
