Summary
In Harry's 6th year, he experiments with an unknown potion in the Prince's Book, which is simply described as: "Guaranteed Success." It isn't until a year later when time resets to the start of 6th year that he finds out the true effect of the potion.
He's stuck in a time loop reliving sixth year again, and although he doesn't know how to escape it, he does have knowledge of the future that could give him the chance to get one over Snape, Malfoy, and Voldemort, and perhaps finally tell Hermione how he really feels.

Summary
According to "H J Potter's" diary, Hermione is reliving an unknown number of years with Harry Potter, due to a deal made with Death. At first glance, there's no way to prove it correct (even the book admits it has little information beyond what she and Harry have). However, she's told, Harry should have "twinges" just after he restarts, designed to move him onto a slightly different path from the one that led to death and failure. And his cloak glows, but who's watching it constantly? On interrogation, Harry denies having a twinge or seeing his cloak glow. Oh, well. Even if the book is correct, he could have restarted any time in the last decade - or even more. Then he off-handedly tells her that today, for whatever reason, he suddely thought very intently about the Mirror of Erised.
