Draco stared at the unpurchased jar of newt's eyes in his hand while holding it up to the light to try and determine how fresh they were . Draco decided that they would work fine for his potion, when his arm was suddenly knocked askew. The jar of new eyes dropped with a resounding crash in the quiet of the shop.
Harry was so occupied reading his list of ingredients, that he didn't realize someone was in his path at the apothecary. Harry had been holding a caddy full of various potions and ingredients on his arm, while holding his list in his other hand. Harry had the paper near his face, focusing on the next item he needed when he bumped into someone. The sound of his caddy falling to the ground, and glass shattering everywhere brought Harry crashing back to his surroundings. He uttered a ‘sorry’ before realizing who he had run into.
“Oh um hello Draco. Sorry I bumped into you, I was stuck in my own head.”
Draco had a scowl on his face and turned to yell at this individual, but his scowl transformed into a nervous smile when he realized he had run into none other than Harry Potter.
“Oh…Potter. I mean um no problem really. Sorry I was distracted by these newt eyes.” Draco felt himself flush in embarrassment when what he had said dawned on him. Draco forced himself to not add more to his idiotic statement, and just looked down at the mess on the ground.
“Oh dear, it looks like we have created some sort of concoction here.” Harry said as a shimmering mist started to swirl around them, enveloping them obscuring them from the rest of the shop. The owner shrugged at the mess, and continued working, knowing that those two would work it out eventually.
“We should probably clean this up, yeah? I can go grab some towels. I’ll be right back.” Draco said as his flush deepened. He left the weird swirly bubble to grab some towels from the corner. Harry nodded as he started to move the glass shards into piles with his hands.
Draco returned and soaked up the liquid mess but as he did so, Harry spoke, unable to keep his curiosity in check.
“Why do you buy your cologne or whatever it is you wear here at the Apothecary?” Harry asked, confused.
“I don’t. Why do you get your shampoo here?” Draco snarked back. He felt a little defensive being asked such a personal question. But also why would Harry bother him about it when it was clear that Harry bought something personal here as well. That seemed weird to him.
“I don’t buy anything here except for potions ingredients so I don’t know what you are talking about…” Harry answered slightly annoyed at being questioned in return. He looked around them again and stopped talking for a minute, watching the swirling vapors that wafted around them.
“Oh shit…no that can’t be…” Harry said as realization dawned on him.
Draco looked around at the swirls too, and blushed the deepest shade of red of his life. “Well that’s one way for my feelings to come out I guess. I didn’t realize you felt the same way.” Draco whispered, forcing himself to look up at Harry.
Emerald green eyes sparkled at him uncertainly, but steadily met Draco’s molten silver ones. Without thinking about it, Draco’s hand reached out and caressed Harry’s cheek. Harry shivered a little at the contact, but loved the tingling sensation spreading throughout his body from Draco’s touch. Harry tilted his face into Draco’s hand and let the sensation flow through his body. Harry maintained eye contact as he moved his face closer to Draco’s, barely breathing. Slowly he inched closer, giving the blond time to pull away, until their lips met in a gentle, tentative kiss.
Draco’s hand tingled where it had touched Harry’s cheek and as the dark haired man leaned closer, Draco held his breath. Was he really about to be kissed by Harry Potter? Turns out he was. Draco gasped into Harry’s kiss and returned it just as gently. At least until the sparks traveled through his body and he became caught up in Harry, his feel, his scent, and their kiss. Draco opened his mouth to deepen their kiss, and Harry responded accordingly, tongue wrestling with Draco greedily. Draco’s gasp became a moan as Harry started to devour him.
As they broke for air, the men realized the potion’s mist had dissipated, which meant that their little make out session had been seen by all the customers within the shop. Both men flushed and cleared their throats as they stood up and went back to cleaning. Harry swore he heard some wolf whistles from the patrons, but he did his best to ignore them. Draco and Harry hurriedly paid for everything they needed and what they had accidentally broken before practically running from the shop. Once outside, the two men ran to the alley before holding each other close and apparating away. They appeared in Harry’s flat, where clothes flew and they became intimately familiar with each other’s bodies.
From that day on, Harry and Draco became inseparable, as if they had truly been meant for each other. They started dating that day and both of them would fondly recall the story of how they decided to take a chance on each other. For who would have ever guessed that love could come from a rather ridiculous potions mess?
