Beyond The Back Roads
A coastal town haunted by sea legends, a tired writer recluded in the mountains, two chilhood friends falling in love in the same place they grew up, a village where stray cats are more than they seem...
The theme of this round is all about small towns and hidden villages, stories unfolding beyond back roads. The bustle and noise of the city are far behind ; here, it's all about local fairs, nosy neighbors, vegetable picking and winding paths, a place where everyone knows each other's name, and where secrets are hard to keep... unless the village itself is keeping one.

Summary
San has had bad days where he swears the world has something against him, sure—however, this might be the type of irrefutable evidence that lets him know that the world is not only against him; it’s actively trying to kill him.
Wooyoung, instead, is slowly trying to figure out how things ended up like this. Out of everything that remains unknown to him, what he does know is that he can eat the world up if he so much as wishes to.
(Or, San has been yearning for too long, and Wooyoung has craved for, mayhaps, even longer.)

Summary
It wasn't every day that you inherit a whole farm, including animals, from your grandparents. So, seeing the state of the actual buildings and how much everything had changed in just a few years, San made it his mission to renovate and take care of everything as well as he was able to.
Without his grandparents, the farm felt empty, but San had his friends who helped with the chores and a certain creature, the shadow of the barn, to make him feel less lonely.
Or: San moves back from the city to his childhood home to find some surprises and a lifelong companion in the form of a black furball.

Summary
San looked Wooyoung in the eye, his gaze unwavering. “Strange things have always happened to you, haven’t they?”
Wooyoung’s brow furrowed. “What?”
“Like you could sense things before you saw them. Know things before they happened. Incidents you could never explain.”
“How did...?” Wooyoung's voice trailed off, his eyes growing wide.
“You come from a long line of witches, Wooyoung. Your grandmother. Your mother. You. And a long list before that.”
Wooyoung shook his head fervently. “No.”
“It's the truth, Wooyoung. And you know it. That is why you are here. That is why your grandmother left you this house. So you can see that all those things you can't explain, are real.”
Or
It’s the 90’s in a small seaside town, called Atesia Cove. Wooyoung, a witch, is cursed to a fatal, tethered, eternal loneliness if he falls in love. San, the gardener of Wooyoung’s newly inherited estate, is bound by an unbreakable vow to protect to the Jung bloodline – he can never leave. As a heated, dangerous attraction grows between them – will they both end up alone, or will the fate of their souls overcome the magic that seeks to pull them apart.

Summary
Wooyoung screams again, and launches himself back in a last ditch effort to put some distance between himself and the haze. Still the haze advances, more human-shaped than it was 2 seconds before. A ghostly arm reaches out, small hand extended, and Wooyoung’s heart jumps into his throat as he presses back against the wall.
“Wooyoung-ssi?”
It’s all too much. Wooyoung blacks out.

Summary
“So I’m supposed to walk around Namhae flanked by three mysterious men the entire time,” San repeats, dumbfounded. “Isn’t that just asking for attention?”
Wooyoung shrugs. “We can be inconspicuous if we want to be.”
“No.” San shakes his head. “We can’t do that.”
“We have to. It’s all been arranged and finalised already.”
“That sounds like a 'you' problem.”
“Since I’m pretty much a part of you now, it’s more of an ‘us’ problem.”
“An ‘us’ problem?” San snaps. “There is no ‘us’.”
“Sure there is,” Wooyoung says, leaning back on his chair. “There was an us the moment you signed that contract.”
(Or: after a close run-in with a crazed fan, idol Choi San is forced to lie low in his hometown. Enter his new bodyguard: childhood rival, full-time menace, and fake boyfriend — Jung Wooyoung.)
