Chapter Text

Langdon’s bedroom was as sparse as the rest of his apartment. He had a cheap IKEA nightstand with a couple of large history tomes stacked on top and a pair of reading glasses delicately perched.

He was probably trying not to loom over her on the bed, but he was failing too, mainly due to Mel suddenly shrinking back towards the wall.

“Yellow?”

It took Mel a few moments to understand what he was saying. She flushed immediately in shame.

“Sorry,” She whispered.

“Hey,” He went to her in concern, keeping one hand on her shoulder, but a safe distance from her. “Don’t apologize for wanting to slow down. This is exactly why we’re doing the stoplight signals.”

“I just got…overwhelmed,” Mel swallowed and took a deep breath. “We’ve already gone farther than I ever have before, but…”

Langdon watched her, his gaze soft and open. He was always so gentle with her. In the ER, she had watched him snark and tease the other residents, there was usually a sarcastic bite to his banter. But he was inexplicably tender with her. He could make her laugh too, teasing her about prepping a Burr hole for a simple bonk on the head. She remembered that moment fondly; he had waited patiently for her to realize the joke instead of just laughing at her lack of understanding. She sometimes worried that’s why Trinity liked teasing her; not out of affection, but because she thought it was comedic that Mel didn’t understand…

“I want to keep going,” She requested and he smiled at her in a way that made her heart flutter. “Would you kiss me again, please?”

She asked in the same tone she’d asked him to teach her a closed cervical reduction. Langdon’s eyes gleamed a little…maybe he liked when she went into student mode, even in the bedroom.

Langdon eagerly obliged her. Once his lips met hers, she felt lost and found all at once, her nervousness evaporating into eager want. She reacquainted herself with the hair on his chest, the way his throat tasted, and the deep rumbles he made with every kiss.

They broke apart, panting slightly. Langdon wetted his lips again and she pressed forward eagerly, before he stopped her.

“I’d like to…” He trailed off, his gaze flicking down her torso. “I’d like to go down on you.”

Mel swallowed. She couldn’t deny a fantasy or two (or six) about that but…she hadn’t expected this at all. She’d been working all day and had been sitting for a while at the bar, and…

“But we don’t have to do that, of course,” Langdon added quickly. “Only if you’re into it. Has anyone ever…?”

Mel swallowed, feeling her entire body flush. “No, they–they haven’t. I’ve, um…read about it though.”

“Oh?” He seemed intrigued. “Read where? Dirty magazines?”

“Fanfiction,” She admitted. “And historical romance bodice rippers.”

He grinned at her, clearly resisting laughter. “Different strokes for different folks…wish I’d known that earlier, though. We could’ve tried a little roleplay.”

“Next time?” Mel asked without thinking.

There was a pause and to her surprise, his cheeks turned pink! She’d embarrassed him! It was a wonderful, powerful, heady feeling.

“Yeah, Mel,” Langdon said softly. “Next time. But for this time…?” His eyes flicked down her body, towards the apex of her thighs.

Mel swallowed. “G-green.”

“Good girl,” He purred and she felt unreasonably pleased at the praise. Langdon scooted closer to her, settling his weight on her lower thighs. At first, he only pressed featherlight kisses to her thighs, a confetti of sparkling pleasure. Then she felt his tongue slide up her thigh, all the way to her damp panties.

Mel shivered in spite of herself. A strangled sort of giggle escaped her lips and Langdon glanced up at her with a smile.

“Relax, Mel,” His voice felt like liquid glass, humming against her skin. “Let me take care of you.”

Her head fell back against his pillow automatically. A lot of people had told Mel to relax before, but no one quite had the effect Langdon did. Her body was eager to obey, eager to please, in a kind of perverse submission. She felt his teeth nip her inner thigh and let out an undignified squeak.

She heard him hum against her skin and shivered at the vibration.

“I wonder…”

Her eyes shot open and she looked down at him. He had something akin to mischief in his expression.

“Wonder what?” Mel whispered.

“How you’ll like it.” His teeth grazed against her thighs again. “Thinking ahead, of course.”

“I…I don’t know…” A lump formed in her throat as she thought of her inexperience.

“I know,” Langdon said soothingly. She felt his hot tongue slide up and down her thighs. “I’m looking forward to finding out–that’s all I mean. Slow and deep? Fast and rough?”

He tapped her slightly and she lifted her hips, allowing him to slide her panties down her legs. He cast them aside with a slight impatience that made her belly flip.

Mel cried out when she felt his tongue take a long drag up her folds, worrying her clit with his tongue. His tongue flattened against her and he lapped at her like a cat, spuriously avoiding her clit after electrifying it. It felt…she couldn’t describe how it felt. She moaned lasciviously and felt her hips rise to meet his tongue. Briefly, she worried about smother him, but when she tried to adjust herself, he jerked her hips back to him.

“You taste just like how I imagined,” Langdon hummed against her core and her eyes shot open.

Mel couldn’t get over the idea of him fantasizing about this. About her. Every day, she was elbow deep in blood, guts, and sinew; she had no idea how anything she did or said could be construed as alluring.

He hadn’t been divorced long either…had he thought about her, even still married? Was she a reason…not the reason, but a reason…that his marriage ended? Guilt and excitement flooded her senses in equal measure. She felt a flash of embarrassment that she was so open to him, so bare, and instinctively almost closed her legs–but Langdon would not allow her to. His tongue worked her clit relentlessly, giving no quarter, and she felt like was going to pass out. She looked down at him only to see his eyes capture hers; he was intent with concentration.

Mel found herself shifting, desperate for him to reach the right spot. Langdon’s focus was on her completely; she could see that her every reaction trained his next move. He was like that in surgery too. She felt white-hot pleasure crest through her body, carrying her up, up, to a peak she previously was only able to reach herself…

Her thighs tightened almost violently around Langdon’s ears. He didn’t seem to mind, lapping at her more slowly to extend her orgasm. When Mel came back to earth, he kissed her thighs lightly and grinned at her unrepentantly. His chin was slick with her; she felt possessive, like she had marked him somehow.

Langdon made to reach over her, perhaps to grab a tissue to clean himself–but Mel wouldn’t allow that. She was desperate to kiss him, desperate to feel his tongue against hers, to know her own taste like she knew his. He groaned at this, mumbling something against her lips she didn’t catch.

“What?” She panted slightly.

“Nothing.” His voice was husky, strained. But Mel was still curious.

“Tell me,” She persisted, her voice catching a little–she was still out of breath.

Langdon rolled over to face her. “Abby didn’t like when I did that.”

“Did what?” Mel asked, a little faintly.

“Kissed her after…” He gestured towards Mel’s pink thighs. She tried not to hold this revelation against Abby, but God… Mel couldn’t imagine not kissing Langdon
after what he’d just done to her with his tongue…

She also realized she wanted more.

As if reading her thoughts, Langdon said softly, “Do you want to stop?” His voice was tender and unobtrusive, but his eyes gleamed in hope.

“No!” Mel burst out and blushed harder. “No, I…can we keep going?”

“Fuck yes,” Langdon whispered and pulled her until she was straddling him.

She gasped at this change of position. He didn’t move, allowing her to adjust, make herself comfortable. Her stomach flipped as she gazed down at him, letting her fingers trace the muscles in his chest.

“I like the view from down here,” He commented, earning another blush.

“What–what should I do?” Mel asked in almost a whisper.

“Whatever you want.”

She swallowed a little, evaluating. Langdon smiled at her, allowing her to chart the course. She appreciated his patience.

Thoughtfully, she bent down and kissed his chest. Then, in a stroke of inspiration, she bit his chest, earning a strangled gasp for her efforts. She bit and sucked,
suddenly enjoying marking him up. Did Abby do this to him? Well, she had divorced him. She was dating an accountant now. Which gave Mel every right to bruise
Langdon’s chest with reckless abandon.

When she reached the coarse hair on his abdomen, she paused. He was rock hard underneath her and she bit her lip.

“Can I…?”

“Yes,” He breathed and she felt herself warm at his eagerness. Experimentally, her hand gripped him gently through the fabric. He groaned at her touch and she felt a swell of pride that she’d caused the reaction.

She tugged the hem of his boxers. “I want these off.”

“Yes ma’am,” Langdon grinned. Mel lifted herself up a little, allowing him room. He got them off in record time and they were quickly cast aside. She allowed herself a moment to stare at his naked, throbbing cock.

She grasped him gently and he sucked in his breath. He was softer than she expected, like hot velvet. Her thumb ran over his tip experimentally and he groaned as it beaded with moisture. Langdon hissed as though she were burning him, but she wasn’t done exploring. She lowered her head and licked him, not dissimilarly from how he’d licked her…

He cried out at that. Encouraged, she let mouth envelop him, testing how far and deep she could take him. She had nearly reached her throat before she felt him tap frantically on her shoulder to stop.

“I’m sorry,” Mel released immediately, wiping her mouth. “I thought you would like–”

“I did like, Mel, too much,” Langdon told her, his voice shaky. “I don’t want this over before we begin.”

“Anyway,” He flipped her over so she was now on her back. “Tonight is about you, not me.”

“But I liked it,” Mel protested.

“Next time,” Langdon promised and her stomach flipped. Next time? There would be a next time?! She'd already asked for a next time, but now he was agreeing for a next time...

He kissed her, long and deep, and she quickly forgot about the thrilling mention of ‘next time’. He broke away from her briefly to scrabble at the drawer of his nightstand. She wondered what he was straining for and then she realized–oh. Of course.

Langdon tore open the condom with his teeth. How could he make something as innocuous as opening a condom so sexy? He rolled it on smoothly, with practiced ease, and she swallowed hard. They were really doing this.

“Green light?” He asked tenderly. “Yellow?”

“Green,” Mel confirmed and he exhaled, perhaps in relief. She felt his hand drift towards her cunt. She gasped a little when he slipped one finger inside, stroking her innermost folds. He murmured something she didn’t catch–something about her tightness?

“Don’t stop,” She pleaded, sensing hesitation. “I want to…”

He kissed her collarbone. “I do too, but I don’t want to hurt you.”

Mel gazed at him, the softness in his features, the tender tutelage he provided in every aspect of her life. No. He could never possibly hurt her, and she said as much.

“You have so much faith in me,” Langdon said softly. “You always have.”

“How could I not?” Mel asked honestly.

“Sometimes I think you’re the only one who does.”

There was a tender vulnerability in his words, and all at once, Mel wasn’t anxious. He was as afraid of hurting her as she was of disappointing him. But he had never hurt her and she had never disappointed him. They understood each other; even more so, they trusted each other. No matter what happened between the two of them from this point on, Mel knew she wouldn’t regret this night.

She expected it to hurt and was shocked that it didn’t.

Langdon entered her smoothly, easily. They both gasped out at the unexpected ease of it and she felt his hot exhale of relief against her throat. She felt herself stretch to receive him–it felt different, not painful. She noticed immediately he wasn’t moving, but trembled violently.

“F-frank?”

“Am I hurting you?”

“No,” Mel promised him. “Please don’t stop…”

Langdon began to move. “Jesus, you’re tight…” At first she wasn’t sure if this was a good or bad thing, particularly when his expression seemed exquisitely pained.
The pressure felt wonderful though, once she got used to it. She realized that was why he’d gone down on her–not simply for their own pleasure, but to make her first time easier. He was always so attentive to her…

Mel cried out unexpectedly, her hips rising to meet him. She found his rhythm and met it easily, the same way she learned a new procedure in the operating room. He showed her the ropes and then allowed her to take the lead…

She wanted to take the lead. She had no idea what she liked, but she wanted to find out for herself.

This revelation in mind, she pressed her palms to his chest, motioning him to stop. He released immediately, brow furrowing in worry, but he had nothing to fear.

Mel wanted to ride him.

She had abandoned self-consciousness–good riddance! All that mattered was the feel of his sweat-slicked skin against hers. All that mattered was the way he moaned with every kiss and every touch.

Mel felt more confident as she slid herself onto his cock. She tried to go slowly, but her eagerness forced him to bottom out before he realized it and she saw the whites of his eyes before he started violently shaking.

“Are you–”

“Baby, you better ride me hard,” Langdon gasped out. “Cuz I am not lasting much longer…”

Her breath shuddered at the nickname and she discovered she liked the endearment. Was Langdon a nickname person? She grinded against him and felt his hips roll in tandem against her. He struggled to keep up with her; sweat trailing down his chest, murmuring filthy names that Mel wanted him to whisper to her in surgery…

Mel was practically hopping on his cock, desperate to finally take for herself something she wanted from the beginning. They were gasping against each others mouths, sweaty and delirious. She felt drunk for the first time that evening–nothing inhibited and enflamed her senses like this.

Langdon bit her shoulder and thrust his hand between their thighs. Her orgasm hit unexpectedly, without the tremulous fanfare of the first and her entire body shuddered with electricity. In a few heartbeats, he came with her, sitting up, taking control of the rhythm and thrusting erratically inside her. She licked the sweat dripping down his chest and felt the desire to bite his neck. She happily followed the urge, earning a delicious grunt from Langdon.

She removed herself from him carefully and suppressed a giggle as he collapsed on the bed. He exhaled deeply and she lay next to him, wondering what would happen next.

To Mel’s surprise, he turned on his side and pulled her close. “You okay?”

She nodded vigorously.

“You’re sure?”

“I want to do it again,” Mel confessed and he burst out laughing, hugging her tightly.

“Not yet,” He admonished, kissing her nose.

“Why not?”

Langdon gazed at her in amusement. “Are you sore?”

Mel was still tingling from the multiple orgasms. She wanted to respond with an affirmative “not at all!” but she realized after a moment that she was a little sore. She sighed in disappointment.

He kissed the tip of her nose in comfort. “You’re using muscles you’re not used to.”

She gave a little smile–what a strange way to put it. He sounded like a personal trainer, not a lover…

Mel swallowed hard. Lover? Is that what they were? Were they a couple now? Was this a one night stand? What were you supposed to do after a one night stand?
Should she get dressed and leave? Or was she supposed to lie there for fifteen minutes and then leave? Or not at all?

“Mel,” Langdon rumbled against her hair.

She turned a little and he bumped her nose with his.

“Stop worrying.”

She didn’t know how, so instead, she fell asleep.

Notes:

Sorry this took so long, folks! One more chappy, just to tie things up!

This may be incredibly shameless, but since people DO read my writing here and sometimes follow me from fandom to fandom...perchance consider checking out my published novel "Hell's Heresies"? It's available everywhere, in ebook, paperback, and audiobook! (Please don't judge me, I need to get the sales up. :D)

Notes:

This is like a really mean cliffhanger, fear not, I'm already pretty far into the smut.

Mel as Langdon's new addiction is my new favorite unhealthy ship trope.

I used to work in a transplant surgeon's office and the interns and residents really did have a Sleep with the Nurses Chart. Horrifying.
