Jack was understandably in over his head when he agreed to basically spy on a military base.
Why?Why did he even agree to this?And yet he had none to blame but himself when he’d gone along with miko’s plan.
He looked to his right , the sandstone he was sitting on scrapped at his knees as shuffled closer.Raf had ended up setting up both his laptop and backpack near the edges of their “hideout”,if you could even call it that.It was more of a strange shaped ditch in the baren rock around them if he really thought about it.With similar holes and cracks in the hard rock around it,it was strange ,but taking in the terrain all around it was classic jasper Nevada .Miles upon miles of desert with not a soul insight.Except if you counted the military base filled with soldiers mind you ,and them a couple of kids ,desperate for any chance of getting closer to the autobots former base. He peaked over to Raf who was doing something with his computer that Jack had no hope of understanding.
It was then that he realized it was too quiet.Thats not right.Their is never any quiet when miko's around.
He started to dart his head and eyes around frantically ,and looked up and above the shallow rock that covered them from sight.The terrain around them was filed with rocks and sand,with dried up plants scattered throughout and large cactuses poking through the night.It was there about a mile away was the base they once walked through as if they owned the place.It seemed much more different than he had remembered though,seeming to have upped their security with giant concrete walls ,outpost towers and more soldiers, seeming more a kin to a prison than a military base actually.
And their, halfway towards the concrete walls was Miko,hiding behind a cactus and snapping pictures like they weren’t out here because of her and her supposed sighting of 'mystically strange light '.I was like she was looking at freaking art exhibit taking the same pictures at different angles.It was a wonder how she hadn't been caught yet,though the guards seemed... tired strangely enough .Like they hadn't slept for days,and tired enough apparently to miss a few dim flashes of light in the absolute darkness.He wasn't exactly unhappy about that mind you.
He turned to Raf.”Raf I want you to stay here.Miko's wandered off to get us killed or worse.”
Raf had immediately turned his head towards him already,looking like he was about to object when Jack cut him off as he left.
“I mean it!”He half heartly whispered.Having already jumped out of their hide out and quickly sliding behind another small outcroping of stone nearby.
Raf could only sigh,he watched as jack had started jumping from hiding place to hiding place.Almost rushing towards where miko went of too, though Raf was thinking he could’ve probably told Jack before he went off that he was finished with his setup and phase two was a go.But maybe this was better,he couldn’t quite keep a grin off his face as he unzipped his backpack and pulled out his pet project for the last year or so.

Jack couldn’t believe miko!Well actually he could believe she would do something as stupid as sneaking right up to the military compound without a care for the consequences on if they were caught .
From where he was now he could see her more clearly, only a few feet ahead,he could easily garb her hand and speed off towards safety,with the only problem being the guards on the tower.Which ofcourse was something he needed to be very careful of ,even if they seemed tired, he doubted they could get away if they ended up making a loud noise.He also couldn’t move as quickly as he wanted to and risk getting caught or every thing their doing right now would go up in royal flames.
She was only afew steps ahead now so he called out to her in a low voice.Feet shuffling himself down down into a small low ditch.
“Miko!Miko come here now!”
She stopped what she was doing and quickly turned around almost ,face contorted to almost look like she was scowling at him.”Dude what are you doing here?”
“What am I doing here ,what are you doing here!?We were supposed to stay back!,that was the plan!?”Jack said ,already feeling incredulous to the point he might start developing a migraine .
“I’m getting proof duh,its our only chance to prove their doing something with the bots tech and I wanna catch all of it!”She said in a not quite whisper
Jack hissed back through his teeth in frustration“Ugh miko!,common we have to go its not safe, we can't just sneak up to the bases entrance without an actual plan.And incase you weren't listening we already have a much more safer plan thanks to Raf ”Jack began to move closer holding out his hand as he stretched forward and out of the ditch.
"I just wanna expose them already alright and ,plus its taking forever for Raf to set that thing up. ”She shifted away from jack but Jack had already grabbed her shoulder.
“Miko common ,can we just go back already !?”He got closer,getting more mad at her for risking her life again and theirs even with the autobots gone.
“Let go!”Miko shoved jacks hand away.
“Hey stop fighting!”
Both miko and Jack nearly screeched before they rightly shut themselves up before they were heard.
At neck snaping speeds they quickly turned towards the source of the voice.
Jack blinked,and miko had already instinctually put her fists up.
“What the ,Laserbeak?! What the heck?”Jack said under his breath ,quickly raising his arms ,quickly putting out his arms to defend miko from whatever attack the drone was going to make.The drone shoudn't even be here ! It was impossible,unless it escaped..and that meant that maybe soundwave had aswell.But before he could go on in full on panic mode miko commented on something he hadn't noticed before.
Miko lbankly stared at the drone commenting -"Wow, but hes tiny”-"Real tiny" .Moving her hand up an extending a finger toward the drone she poked it,
“What ”Jack took a double take.
It didn't react at all.
It was true,it looked like Laserbeak but way tinier,like a standard actaul human drone size.
“So how much did it surprise you?,I had been working on it for awhile now.”The voice was immediately recognizable now that the panic had worn off.
“Wait Raf?!”Jack said both confused and startled.
“Sick.”Miko said with her eyes expanding wider in realization.
“Yeah!,Hi!.Raf said causally ."This was the drone that I said that would be doing the spying for us,I had designed him to look like laserbeak for obviously being kinda cool but also with some adjustments for practicality .”
Now that jack wasn’t startled and being terrified out of his mind ,he did notice some things that were off from the original laser beak,with the fans now coming into view hidden nicely in the front and back.Along with some minor details like the width of the drone being wider and some parts looking distinctly different.
“Cool?,I guess.”.Jack could only hold a smile that was stifled, because he could not really remember a time when cool fit into any descriptions of the giant spy drone in their encounters .
“Thats Awesome !”Miko said quietly, almost in awe.
Though Jack wanted to object with that statement he couldn’t get distracted from their mission.They were already making so much noise now with all this talking.
“Alright Raf since you've already deployed the uh the drone move to the second phase and start scouting,me and miko will meet you back up within the bas- hide out.”
“On it.”Raf said.
“Alright miko lets head back,everything will be on tape anyways .”
Miko sagged her shoulders and started heading back before dramatically saying “Finnnneeeee .”
But not before she had looked to the sky ,eyes following the new spy drone .
She watched as the drone flew off back into the night sky,blending in with the sky almost perfectly to the point where it was hard to tell where the drone exactly was, Raf was seemingly trying to find a way to go around the wall and guard towers.
*snap* “Hey anyone out there ?!”A loud voice shouted from the tower Jacks looked down onto a branch he had accidently stepped on ,out of all the things that got them noticed why of course did it have to be this one?
“Scra-”Jack looked back as a large light seemed to shine near them.
Jack slowly looked back.He mouthed to Miko with a stern expression ‘Get low’
They shifted down low onto there elbows and knees,and slowly started shifting back in the sand.
Miko pointed to another small ditch near them .Jack nodded.They moved towards it ,squirming their way quietly into it.
Both their eyes trained onto the light,getting closer and closer to their position. Jack was so tempted to almost simply make a run for it.This couldn't be the time they got caught ,please. It was then something caught his eye, a lizard,it reminded him of one of those cartoons were whenever their was a character hiding from a villain ,their would be random animal who would make some noise and pop out of a bush almost immediately distracting the bad guy.Leading to the eventual escape of the character. The light beam crept closer. Sure this was real life, and yeah these soldier's didn't have an iq of a regular cartoon villian and frankly it would be stupid to assume that it could work. (And where they even the villains when they were just doing their jobs?)(They weren't ofcourse).But it was either this or spend an indefinite time in juvenile detention /some military prison were they were then convicted trying ot break in an enter a military construct .So why not? It was only two feet away from their hiding place at this point. Jack nudged miko ,snapping her out of whatever fear stricken stupper she was in .Jack eyed the lizard and pointed to it,with miko in turn following his line of sight. She looked at him in confusion ,before jack could only mentally facepalm.Ofcousre ,I mean who looks at a lizard and thinks that it could potentially save them from certain doom? He grabbed a rock ,not large enough to hurt the poor lizard but only to startle it into a run.Welp here goes nothing! It landed only near the lizard becoming an almost abnormally loud noise in jacks ears . The light beam was coming upon them fast. Miko turned to him in an deadpan stare.Almost like she was ready to slap him across the face for such a stupid move Becoming startled from the noise ,then lizard began running, almost stupidly luckily ,straight into the light.Jack held his breath as miko began to almost strangle the life out of him. The light fell upon the large lizard ,it didn't look large enough to snap a branch , but oddly enough the guards didn't think twice of turning of the bright spot light. Jack exhaled as miko looked dumbfoundly upon the now lightless desert night.That was probably the luckiest moment of jacks entire night. They made their way back silently towards Raf,both neither commenting on the the very lucky encounter .Hey miko did one stupid thing ,Jack did another ,it was even now.

They were already back to where Raf was as they bunched up together. Looking onto Rafs laptop which held grainy green footage of the drone moving swiftly through the air.It looked almost as if Raf was playing a computer game on his laptop. With the modified controller in his hands ,completing the look.
“Soo you beat the final boss yet?”Miko smiled next to Raf.
“About too just gotta get past this one guard ”Raf grinned right next to her ,while holding the controller out like he did when he was playing those racer games back at missile silo.
Jack could only raise an eyebrow up at them in mirth as he returned his focus back to the screen.
As the drone swiftly made quick work of getting past the guards ,both thanks to Rafs skill ,'inspiration 'and some luck, They were in.
