Chapter Text
Kim Namwoon Part 2
He closed the computer, tears dotting the rim of his eyes as he rapidly blinked them away. It hurt, so so much, especially now that he knew Yoo Joonghyuk was in reach once again. He still remembered when Namgung Minyoung, Yoo Joonghyuk’s master, came to visit his own master and nearly froze out of shock of seeing the very much alive Kim Dokja. It had taken Master Kyrgios and him to stop the woman from immediately calling Yoo Joonghyuk. He could still picture her thunderous expression and how constipated she looked when she left. Yoo Joonghyuk would be no better. Sometimes he wished he never attempted, maybe then he’d still have the luxury of randomly showing up at his house or dragging him on hangouts that weren’t preplanned but then he’d remember Lee Seolhwa and that thought instantly goes flying out of his mind.
Dokja sighed, slipping the computer under his arms as he downed the latte like a shot, throwing it into the trash can across the room. It landed inside, as training his aim was something that he did for fun with the only family picture he had as a target. He smiled at Jung Heewon’s appreciative whistle, giving the military couple a wave before he exited the cafe, preparing to go home. The little trip had helped him cool down by a considerable amount and he was now ready to face their shenanigans again. He quickly sent a text to Jihye and set out on walking back to the apartment.
“I’m back! Did you guys eat? I’ll send you kids to the school in a bit, didn’t expect to be back so early.”
He slipped off his shoes, heading straight to the kitchen for the leftover food before heading to the living room where the kids were furiously gaming.
“Ah, welcome back. Yeah, we’ll leave in a bit, the game starts at 7. Kim Namwoon will be staying over, is that alright?”
Jihye absentmindedly replied, fingers flicking through the controls faster than he could see.
“Oh? Sure, but can I talk to you for a second? I need your help with something.”
He tilted his head in thought, scanning the boy from head to toe. He wasn’t a model child that’s for sure so it probably was family problems, not that he had any room to talk. The omega waited until they finished the game, beckoning Jihye to come to the kitchen, away from Kim Namwoon’s curious gaze and ears.
“Is there a problem back home that I have to be aware of? Cause if that’s the issue, he’s more than welcome to stay for as long as he wants.”
Dokja leaned in to whisper, nodding in understanding at Jihye’s confirmation.
“Got it, then you guys head to school by yourselves, I’ll get a pyeong set up for him. You can ask for his opinion along the way.”
“Woah Orabeoni, you work fast at adopting kids. I think he’d agree, the family situation isn’t bad enough for child protective services but there’s definitely neglect. I’ll update you on the situation through text.”
He gave his affirmation and let her go back to the games as he wandered the house for his old pyeong. It was a bit used and worn out so he’ll have to get a new one if the kid really does decide to stay. On top of that, new toiletries and clothes..? He’ll help the boy sneak a few clothes out too if he wants.
His weak noodle arms didn’t make the task easy but he managed to haul the pyeong into the living room inch by inch before he went back to bundle the blankets and pillows and lugged that back as well. The whole time, he ignored the white haired boy’s questioning stare but once he got everything organized and situated, he turned towards him, aiming a thumb at the already made bed.
“Your temporary bed for now, I’ll get a better one later. Take a shower before you sleep alright? These sheets are newly washed.”
Dokja’s eyes softened at the boy’s shocked and definitely tearing up eyes, turning a blind eye when the boy “secretly” wiped the tears away.
“Got it ahjussi, you can go now, I’ll make sure we get there safe!”
The boy threw a cheeky grin and a thumbs up to which he sighed at but agreed amiably.
“Yeah yeah, think before you act. I don’t want to see you unconscious in an alleyway again.”
He busied himself with finding toiletries, hiding a smile when he heard what was supposed to be a silent scream of joy. He had a feeling that Kim Namwoon would now be a permanent fixation in this household. Dokja will have to stock up on food and hot chocolate again as well as a new cuddle set but for now he’ll settle with the basics. After all, Namwoon is already a Kim and Jihye’s close friend, was there any reason stopping him from adopting this stray as well?
Like he predicted, Kim Namwoon became a permanent fixture in the household. He had gotten permission from the boy’s guardians who didn’t even seem to give a damn. It upset all of them quite a lot but it was good in the way that moving him in was nice and easy without the involvement of the police. Within a week, there was a set of green toiletries next to his white ones and Jihye’s gray ones and a new ikea bed that was still waiting to be put together by the other guest room. The food in the pantry was now full of snacks and a few gundams littered the living room. There was a plastic hanger for his temporary wardrobe full of emo looking clothes and a few uniforms in his room and a new black desk along with a table light.
Kim Namwoon fit in perfectly, the annoying family member every family has got to have but one they cherished to hell and back. He and Jihye often had brawls but they settled down considerably for cuddle time and what he begins to call self-recharge where he repeats words he’s read for the two to think about and mull over, each one being something relating to self love. He repeats it so much he’s beginning to believe them himself.
Another one added to the Kim household but there were still new troubles brewing about. What was this about having to volunteer as a line ref for the volleyball club and what do you mean Yoo Joonghyuk would be watching that very game???
