Chapter 19: Happily Ever After, Here We Are

Notes:

Thank you for anyone who has stuck with me through this story. This last chapter is a short one. I haven't updated in almost a year and every day that passed I worried I would never finish it. I wanted to do two more chapters but it's been a while, so I figured I would at least let this store come to a close! I hope you guys enjoy this short, closing chapter. <3

Chapter Text

“I now pronounce you wife and wife, you may kiss… each other!”

Bismuth grabbed Pearl and pulled her in close, dipping her down carefully by her waist and grabbing the back of her head while she kissed her.

All of their friends and family stood up, cheering, clapping, most of them through tears. Garnet had attended as Ruby and Sapphire so the two had the chance to individually experience this event, as the only two other gems in history who had been married.

After lifting Pearl back up, she jumped up and hugged Bismuth tight around the shoulders, her legs lifting off the ground while she did so.

Connie played her violin as the two walked out, arm in arm, both full of so much love and happiness. Neither of them ever imagined this day would be here. But it was, and they were so grateful to have each other.

They danced together during the reception, holding each other closely. Neither gem could find the time to put their focus on anything else. They felt like they were the only ones there. It was them against the world forever now. They knew that no matter what life threw their way, they would have each other.

Peridot ran up to Bismuth’s leg and held on tight. “Oh, you guys! You’re an extraordinary couple. I am so happy.”

Bismuth laughed and ruffled Peridot’s hair. “Thanks dot, I’m happy you could celebrate with us.”

Lapis, noticing that Peridot had already interrupted the pair, took a moment to join them. She side-hugged Pearl and learned her head on her shoulder. Bismuth met Lapis’s other side and they all came together in a group hug. Peridot, feeling left out, went in the middle of the group and squished herself waist deep between all of them.

“Awhhh! Group hug!” Steven exclaimed, running up to them. Before they knew it, all of the gems were surrounding them. Muffled cries from Peridot came from the middle of the group.

Eventually, their friends let them have their space, let them have their once in a lifetime moment. Amethyst cried while shoveling pizza into her mouth, watching them dance from a distance.

Pearl and Bismuth shoved cake into each other’s faces. Pearl had a single lick of frosting, while Bismuth devoured nearly six pieces.

As the night came to an end, the couple found themselves sitting near the beach with their shoes off, cool water occasionally meeting their feet.

Pearl relaxed on Bismuth’s shoulder. Bismuth dug her palms into the sand and leaned into them.

“Bismuth, can you believe this is real? You’re my wife.”

Bismuth smiled, butterflies forming in her stomach. It was the first time Pearl said she was her wife. “I’m your wife,” Bismuth mused, “And you’re my wife.”

“I am so in love with you, Bismuth. I’m happy I have forever with you.”

“I love you too.”

Notes:

This is my first time writing fan-fiction for Steven Universe! I'm really excited for this story and have big plans for it. I would greatly appreciate any feedback in the form of comments. If anybody has any suggestions I will gladly take them into consideration. If you liked it, please let me know! It will definitely encourage me to put up the next chapter faster!
